Pet Safety & Care Standards

Before the first visit
Every new client gets a free meet & greet. We meet your pets on their own turf, walk through the routine, test keys and entry codes, and write everything into your pet's profile so no visit ever depends on someone remembering.
During every visit
Regardless of service, every visit includes:
- Fresh water and a check on food
- A look over your pet for anything unusual — limping, scratching, appetite, mood
- Cleanup of any accidents
- A written summary and photos, sent the same day
- Doors, gates, and locks verified before we leave
Leashes and off-leash
Dogs are leashed at all times in public, no exceptions, regardless of recall. We use your equipment when you have a preference, and we carry backup leashes and slip leads. We do not visit dog parks unless you have asked for it in writing.
Weather
Extreme heat, ice, or thunderstorms shorten a walk into indoor enrichment and a quick relief break. We would rather give your dog fifteen good minutes than push through conditions that hurt their paws.
If something goes wrong
You get a call, not a text, the moment we think your pet needs a vet. If we cannot reach you, we contact your emergency contact and take your pet to the clinic listed on their profile. Care costs are billed to you, and we never delay treatment while waiting for approval on something urgent.
Insurance and screening
Pawside is insured and bonded. Every caregiver clears a background check, completes pet first-aid training, and shadows visits before ever working alone.
